We are the University Scouts, founded on the principles of Scouting, as a Venture Crew committed to active service. We strive to help others in providing opportunities for local scouting units as well as providing volunteers for local community service groups. We are University affiliated Students, Faculty, and Staff who have had previous experience or interest in scouting. We are registered Scouters ready to assist in providing beneficial experiences for younger scouts and ready to share our talents and time. Our crew members have experience ranging from weekend backpackers and sailing expeditions to Merit Badge Universities and teaching basic botany and fire-building skills at troop meetings. Whether we may act as the necessary extra adult leadership for a high adventure activity, a camp-out, or a day hike, we appreciate the opportunity to share our skills and enthusiasm, and to have new experiences and broaden our outdoor knowledge with you.
Our model is simple. If there is an event your troop, crew, pack, organization, or service club could use some help with, just fill out our volunteer request form, and we will get back to you with the possibility of sending some of our cheerfully serving volunteers to assist you. No event is too big or too small to ask for help. We have experience with everything from troop meetings to Jamborees and we are prepared to “pass it on.”
The University of Virginia Crew 1819 is prepared to do our good turn. We have all ranges of experience from Eagle Scouts to Venturing Silver and Ranger Awardies to students interested in Scouting for the first time and all the opportunities it has to offer.
